Happy April Fool’s Day!

Whether you know or not, or whether you are prepared, the bridal party may play a practical joke on your wedding day. The groom is typically the recipient of any wedding day jokes, but both the bride and groom should be prepared. Here are some standard pranks:

Jacket Swap: The groom goes to put on his jacket, and realizes it’s too small.

Secret Messages: “Friends” may put “help me” or “kick me” messages on the bottom of your shoes or on the back of your jacket.

Long lost child: When and if the marriage officiant asks “does anyone object to this marriage”, someone may send a mystery child down the aisle yelling “Daddy, Daddy!”

Key return: The best man might ask all of the ladies who had keys to the grooms house to go and return their keys now that he is married.

Squeaky toy in bed: It’s your wedding night, just think about it…

Obviously this doesn’t include all pranks, but keep on the look out- some people like to be the center of attention. Good luck today, and on your wedding day!

Like most days, I began this one with a search of the the local news in the world of weddings so I could find something fun to talk about in my daily wedding blog. When I came across this story from the Macon newspaper, it had a promising title: “Wedding was a ‘moving’ ceremony.” I thought to myself, “What… did these people decide when all their friends came into town for their wedding, they’d also ask them to help with a house move?” To be honest, having your friends who are already in town anyway help you move seems like pretty brilliant wedding advice. Maybe even the best wedding advice ever, now that I think about it. So I read the article.

It wasn’t at all about getting friends and family to visit you and then carry boxes, which was a bit disappointing. But my first bit of wedding advice today is going to be to consider it. I mean really… why not make your guests help you move? Most people move right around the time they get married, movers are expensive, and weddings are expensive. So the least your guests can do after giving them a $200 a plate meal is carry a couple of boxes and maybe a couch. Heh… if you get them drunk enough, they might not even mind too much (as long as you don’t mind your new hubby’s prized 52″ plasma getting broken… or rather, don’t mind that he minds).

Sadly, the article had nothing to do with getting your wedding guests to help with moving. Instead, it turned out to be rednecky wedding story from Macon, GA (hey… I’m originally from Georgia, so I’m allowed to make fun!). I almost stopped reading and went on to something else, but something about the story wouldn’t let me stop reading. And by the end, I was in tears. Tears! Over a newspaper story! I’m kind of ashamed of myself. Am I really so desperate to get married that I start bawling like three-year-old who just scraped her knee every time I read a slightly sappy wedding story?

Please… someone out there read this wedding story article and tell me if you were crying by the end. I’ve got to know whether or not I’m losing my sanity ASAP! Thanks.

Here’s another bizarre wedding story. A bride-to-be was happily preparing her upcoming wedding to the man of her dreams Until one day, she discovered her fiance’s secret life. Hello you fabulous people out there, this is your Wedding Diva with another wedding blog for you to enjoy.

Haylie Hocking, 27, a bride-to-be from Bristol, England, got the shock of her life when she discovered her fiance’s secret life. Miss Hocking’s Maid of Honour, Lisa Hoskins, searched the internet to find and hire a male stripper for the hen night (bachelorette party). They discovered that the dashing groom is actually a porn star and male stripper! The prospective groom admitted his secret double-life and Ms Hocking called the wedding off. To read more about the story just click this link.

It’s really sad when someone you love keeps secrets from you. It’s a good thing if you find out about it before the big day. What if you discover the secret after you get married? What would you do?

This is your Wedding Diva asking you to make sure your significant other is telling the truth or there are no skeletons in the closet yet to be discovered. Just be truthful and honest with each other to have a long lasting marriage. Always remember that a marriage based on lies never lasts long. Enjoy planning your wedding. Toodles.

As much as possible I want to do wedding blogs which give a positive light. But we all live in a real world and we all know that bad things do happen. And I believe that we can learn from the tragedy of others and maybe prevent the same tragedy from happening to us. We should always remember that history does repeat itself.

Today’s wedding blog is about a sad wedding story which happened about two years ago, where a supposedly happy wedding first dance of a couple, became their last. In January 19, 2008 Ms Kim Sjostromn had her first dance with her husband, Teddy Efkarpides, and died of heart disease in her husband’s loving arms even before their first dance ended.

The truth is I didn’t feel any sadness for Ms, Sjostromn. She died very happy in the company of her family, friends, and mostly, died in the arms of the one she truly loves. Though, I can’t say the same for her husband. Teddy Efkarpides is the one who was truly most affected of this tragic event. It’s rare for anyone to be married and be a widower on the same day. Click here to read more about the tragic first wedding dance.

I truly hope that Mr. Teddy Efkarpides is doing well these days. And may he find again the happiness which was abruptly interrupted during his first wedding. My prayers are with you Teddy may you find again the love you have lost.

Have you ever experienced attending a wedding and something really funny or outrageous happened? Well, I have. And I’m sure some of you have also experienced unexpected things which happened in a wedding you have attended.

It was the wedding of a good friend of mine and I was one of the bridesmaids. I overheard the best man talking about the groom’s ordeal. The best man said that the groom was awake the whole night because he was really nervous about his wedding. He couldn’t sleep. He kept on calling him, the best man, on the phone. The best man tried to convince the groom to rest, but his pleads fell on deaf ears. Desperate for a shut eye the best man gently hanged up and unplugged the wire of his phone while the groom was busy blabbering. The best man said he went back to sleep with a smile on his face.

When the wedding planner told us that the ceremony will start shortly, we all went to our places and got ready to march down the aisle. My friend the bride was really beautiful and the groom looked handsome as well, though, a little sluggish.

We were all seated and listening to the priest’s homily. As the priest was about to end his homily a loud strange sound suddenly caught our attention which kept us all really quiet. We all looked at each other searching for the location where the strange sound was coming from. It was like a growl of a menacing animal. We were all looking from left to right when we saw the bride giggling. She then burst out laughing while shaking the groom gently. Then we learned that the groom fell asleep and snoring out loud. The priest was also laughing with bride and jokingly said: “In Jesus name, I command thee to rise!” Then everybody started to guffaw.

That was really one hilarious wedding I have attended. Now, I will link you to a site where you can read more hilarious wedding stories from real people. They are not fabricated stories; they are contributions by random people who have witnessed funny things which happened in the wedding they have attended.

We have written so many wedding blogs posts on how to have wedding savings and how to have an inexpensive wedding. Most of them are videos about do-it-yourself wedding items, articles from other sites which give really sound advice, and more.

I stumbled upon a video from YouTube and I was amazed on how a couple from Spokane plan to pay for their wedding. They’re set on a goal to collect 400,000 aluminum cans for recycling and earn about $4,000 – $5,000 to have a decent non-extravagant wedding this coming July 31st, 2010.

I say, why didn’t we ever think of this before? It may sound like an outrageous plan trying to collect 400,000 aluminum cans for recycling, but the more you think about it, it’s not actually impossible for anyone to pull it off. So, Pete and Andrea created a website called WeddingCans.com, where you can read all about their plans and updates on the progress of their project.

The reason why I like this idea very much is that not only will it help them pay for some of their wedding expenses, but they would also end up helping our environment. The couple are also environmentalists so it’s not surprising for them to think of such an ingenious plan.

Below is a video from the Associated Press that we got from YouTube where the couple was interviewed about their amazing wedding plan. They also have other plans on how to have an inexpensive wedding and have the wedding savings they are targeting. Also, click the link to their site to learn more about their green wedding project.

I hope this wedding blog will help you in your own pursuit of having an inexpensive wedding. Maybe you can start your own project similar to this to help pay for your own wedding and help clean our environment at the same time. Have a great day and good luck planning your dream wedding!
