The recent release of Alice in Wonderland has re-introduced the classic tea party theme.  Many brides are trying to have summer tea-party weddings.  We’re familiar with the specialty cocktail for a bride and groom, what about a specialty tea blend as well?  Sure, you could just purchase your favorite tea bags and re-wrap like this article explains.  Or, you could purchase different loose leaf tea and make your own blend.  Places like Amazon sell seal-able tea bag filters like these or you could make your own cloth bags like this article explains.  Making your own favors, and being able to purchase your supplies in bulk, will cut down your wedding expenses.

I’ve talked about fruit as an alternative, inexpensive center piece.  I’ve talked about yummy, edible favors.  I have not talked about fruit as favors- honestly, it’s because I didn’t think of it.  How cute are these apple favors?  Sure, you have to wait until the last minute to buy them, but when else are you going to finish a flat of fruit from Costco?

First and foremost, I need to say: forgoing wedding favors is a really easy way to cut wedding costs.  At the end of the night, your guests don’t really want a little picture frame or candle.  If you really do want to distribute a thank-you-something, then why not make it edible?  And, why not make it yourself?  Sure, you will need to do a test run to make sure the recipes works, but here are few easy, inexpensive, edible favor ideas:

As you might have gathered, Mr soon-to-be-Heather and I went to a premarital counseling weekend.  We learned a lot about each other, but we also learned a lot about what other couples are doing for their wedding.  I heard this really great, inexpensive idea for a combined guest favor and seat assignment and thought I would share…

This smart savings couple found pictures of each of their guests, preferably with one of them in it.  They then attached a little note to the picture with the guest name and their seating assignment.  All guests were able to view a montage of pictures from the couples lives, and then guests were able to take a picture home as a favor (super personal and sentimental), and have a conversation piece to dialogue with other guests.
