Last year we have featured Pachelbel’s Canon or Canon in D major with a mixture of Celtic tradition. The classical composition beautifully merges with the Celtic tradition, thus, creating a breathtaking wedding music that anyone can use on their wedding day.

Today, we will feature another wedding music that you’d probably want to include in your wedding song lists once you hear it. The wedding music for this week is a fusion of traditional English folk song and traditional Celtic melody which will make a great wedding music background at the reception.

Greensleeves is a traditional English folk song which is known to exist since the late 16th century. There is a belief that Lady Greene Sleeves (the original title) was composed by King Henry VIII for his beheaded queen of consort, Anne Boleyn. But this popular belief has no available evidence that will prove it was King Henry VIII himself was indeed the composer of this English traditional folk song.

Below is a video of the song. This particular rendition is available at TCarterMusic.com. May, you enjoy listening to this groundbreaking musical achievement. And wait for more wedding blog posts where you can learn different wedding savings technique for you to enjoy an inexpensive wedding. Until next time, enjoy planning dream your wedding.

Hope you are enjoying your weekend. Hi, this is Chelsea and I would like to welcome you to our new segment, Wedding Music of the Week. This is not our usual wedding savings tips to having inexpensive wedding. Here, we will feature beautiful wedding music you can use. We also include information about the composer of the songs and the artist(s) who popularized them. We might even add a little trivia or history about the song for kicks.

For today’s piece of music, I have chosen my most favorite wedding music of all wedding themes, the Canon. This masterpiece was composed by Johann Pachelbel in or around 1680, during the Baroque era. Canon, which is what it’s popularly called now, also goes by the titles of Pachelbel’s Canon, Canon in D Major, or Canon and Gigue in D major (formal).

The piece’s score was discovered and first published in the 1920s. Arthur Fieldler, a long time conductor of the Boston Pops Orchestra, first recorded this wonderful music in 1940. American film director and actor, Robert Redford used the piece for his 1980 Academy Award-winning film “Ordinary People”. He use the Canon as the main theme for this movie.

The video I found from youtube is a recording from T Carter Music. This particular Canon in D major recording was beautifully merged with an inspirational Celtic traditional arrangement. I love Canon already, and I fell in love with it more mixed with Celtic music. Click the video and listen to this wonderful heart melting rendition of Canon in D major. Enjoy your weekend!
