I’m an animal lover. My two cats are easily my best friends in the world (even if they can sometimes be a little… well… catty, but what best friend isn’t sometimes catty?). Still, would I ever include my cats in my wedding? No. Not a chance. Call me old fashioned, but I believe weddings are for people. So my wedding advice is to leave the critters at home (or in a kennel), and let the bipedals enjoy their day. Unless you’re a bride who want to enter in a horse-drawn carriage. Then you can have a four-legged creature… that’s OK, I guess.

I actually didn’t always feel this way about including animals in weddings. I honestly didn’t think much about it. But then I read this article, and specifically, one line from the article, that made me change my mind:

“Muffin Top, a two-year-old Pomapoo, will be wearing a pink satin harness dress while the maid of honour leads her down the aisle on a tiny pink leash.”
Muffin Top? Pomapoo? Pink satin harness dress? Maid of Honour? I don’t know if any two of those phrases should ever be used in the same sentence… but all four? I simply can’t support it. Just trust me on this one, gals. This isn’t wedding savings advice I’m offering up here at Practically Ever After. This is advice for how to save your wedding. Just leave the fuzzy creatures at home!

Blech! Yuck! Ugg! Barf! Hurl! Ick! And whatever other noise I can make that will help me belt these poor lungs out of my body that just had to endure air tainted by the very idea of such an atrocity. Yes, we all know Apple fanboys. And yes, we all know people who would rather lose an arm than an iPhone. But when it comes to good wedding theme ideas, this is one wedding blogger that has to draw the line somewhere, and that line stops about 50 iMiles away from the nearest couple that could possible decide it’s a good idea to get married… MARRIED!… at an Apple store with an Apple themed wedding.

I don’t hate Mac people. I’m even a little jealous sometimes. In fact, I’m going to a wedding two weeks from now where the bride and groom are surely going to incorporate some form of iTasticness into their ceremony. But an entire wedding with an Apply theme? Puh-lease.

You can read the story that caused this outrage here… but it’s really not worth your time. Or the irreparable damage you’ll do to your wedding psyche. Just don’t say you weren’t warned.

Like most days, I began this one with a search of the the local news in the world of weddings so I could find something fun to talk about in my daily wedding blog. When I came across this story from the Macon newspaper, it had a promising title: “Wedding was a ‘moving’ ceremony.” I thought to myself, “What… did these people decide when all their friends came into town for their wedding, they’d also ask them to help with a house move?” To be honest, having your friends who are already in town anyway help you move seems like pretty brilliant wedding advice. Maybe even the best wedding advice ever, now that I think about it. So I read the article.

It wasn’t at all about getting friends and family to visit you and then carry boxes, which was a bit disappointing. But my first bit of wedding advice today is going to be to consider it. I mean really… why not make your guests help you move? Most people move right around the time they get married, movers are expensive, and weddings are expensive. So the least your guests can do after giving them a $200 a plate meal is carry a couple of boxes and maybe a couch. Heh… if you get them drunk enough, they might not even mind too much (as long as you don’t mind your new hubby’s prized 52″ plasma getting broken… or rather, don’t mind that he minds).

Sadly, the article had nothing to do with getting your wedding guests to help with moving. Instead, it turned out to be rednecky wedding story from Macon, GA (hey… I’m originally from Georgia, so I’m allowed to make fun!). I almost stopped reading and went on to something else, but something about the story wouldn’t let me stop reading. And by the end, I was in tears. Tears! Over a newspaper story! I’m kind of ashamed of myself. Am I really so desperate to get married that I start bawling like three-year-old who just scraped her knee every time I read a slightly sappy wedding story?

Please… someone out there read this wedding story article and tell me if you were crying by the end. I’ve got to know whether or not I’m losing my sanity ASAP! Thanks.

Today, I will feature another bizarre wedding celebration. Well, maybe it’s bizarre or weird to us, but not to the people celebrating it. It’s part of their culture and to them it’s quite normal. What I am talking about here is the wedding between two frogs. A group of Indian people married these two amphibians (and since they’re Indians, this most probably was an arranged marriage) for them to have rain.

There’s really no known metreological explanation on how the union of two cold blooded amphibians can help in the change of weather. But this is what the Indians believe in and we just have to enjoy and be amazed in their weird festivities.

Good day to all. Not so long ago we featured gothic weddings here at PracticallyEverAfter.com. This time, our weird wedding blog for today is gorier than the other bizarre weddings we have featured.

This blog features the union between two macabre lovers. And as far as I’m concerned, this is the eeriest and bloodiest wedding I have ever seen. This is creepier than Thailand’s Centipede King’s wedding. Eerier than the bride in the coffin.

Horror movie producers, Christopher Downs and his bride Amber Nolin, were married by Rev. Heather Lynn Meyer in a Zombie themed wedding at the Macabre Cinema in the West Bottoms. Their wedding was really quite different – and not for those with weak constitutions obviously. Plus, they probably spent a lot to pull this monstrous shindig off. So don’t expect any wedding savings tips here.

I will include a link where you can find clips of what happened during the wedding. Click the link to watch the video.

Today’s wedding blog will both cover how to have an inexpensive wedding and it’s being unique from the rest, and bizarre for the others.

We are talking about the Fastfood Weddings, particularly, McDonald’s. In 1999 a couple who love going to a weekly car show at Rock N’ Roll McDonalds. Got married in front of that McDonalds’ branch in the middle of the car show. Click the video below to see the ceremony.

In 2002, BBC featured a UK couple, Judy Foulkes and Andrew Smith who celebrated their wedding with a happy meal. The couple just wanted to have a cheerful and inexpensive wedding reception. Instead of paying out thousands of pounds the couple shelled out only £136.87 for 33 guests. That’s a tremendous wedding savings if you ask me.

There are other stories about these fastfood weddings, and McDonalds is not the only fastfood chain store entertaining wedding receptions. Some people find it sad, for people to marry in a fastfood chain. But isn’t it better to have an inexpensive wedding and have a long and fruitful marriage than having a grand reception and your marriage will only last for a couple of years? I don’t know about you, but I’ll choose the former.

We have featured several bizarre weddings here at practicallyeverafter.com, but there are still more weird weddings we haven’t covered yet. Today, I will feature the bizarre wedding of Christine England, a 40 year old hospice nurse, and her fiance Keith Green, also in his 40s.

Christine wanted to have a fairytale wedding, and I’m not sure if Keith’s surname became their inspiration that they painted themselves green and they looked ogrishly lovely together. Yes folks, Christine and Keith became Fiona and Shrek. I believe I can honestly say that they did have the fairytale wedding they wanted – albeit a bizarre one.

In full costume and make-up, they got married in front of 100 guests who were also in their own costumes. Christine also asked her 18 year old son if he could dress as “Donkey.” Though thrilled enough with the “Shrek” wedding theme, he absolutely didn’t want to play the part. Bravo, kid for sticking up for your dignity. Who wants to be an “ass” anyway, and at the wedding of your mom, no less? Meanwhile, the bride’s mother wisely thought that this was not how a blushing bride should look like, but it,,no doubt, was a fun and unique way to get married.

Keith and Christine both love the movie “Shrek”. And since Christine always told her fiance how much he resembles Shrek, the idea sprouted just like a wild mushroom in her head. And because of this idea, the couple became an overnight sensation in the UK.

I believe that this couple’s sense of humor is really great. Imagine looking like ogres in front of many people… and on your wedding day! You know, it’s not really hard to have an inexpensive fairytale wedding. All you need is ingenuity, a great imagination, and some pretty strong guts to pull it off.
